The American duo of Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur captured the doubles title Saturday at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships, topping youngsters Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki.
After Raymond and Stosur took the evenly-matched first-set in the tie-break, the match seesawed back and forth between the top seeds and the first time pairing. The finalists traded breaks five consecutive times in the second set, as the Belarusian-Danish duo managed to play catch-up with their more experienced opponents each time they fell behind.
The top seeds finally broke the match open by holding serve at 4-3, and then broke their opponents one final time to clinch the title 7-6(2), 6-3.
This marked the Americans' seventh title win since joining forces in 2005. They captured the Tokyo title earlier this year, and came up just short in the final of the Australian Open.
Raymond had appeared in the Memphis singles final three times - two times walking away with the trophy - but was making her first trip to the doubles title match.
Both the 16-year-old Azarenka and 15-year-old Wozniacki were playing doubles in just their second WTA Tour event.
