Aspelin & Perry, Gullickson & Harkleroad Move on to Semifinals

Simon Aspelin and Todd Perry, the No. 2 seeds, rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over wild card Americans Amer Delic and Bobby Reynolds on Thursday at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championship. The Swede-Aussie duo dominated their quarterfinal opponents, denying them a single break chance as they closed out the match in 53 minutes.

Aspelin and Perry will be advancing to their third semifinals of the season; they reached the San Jose semifinal last week, where they fell to Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas, and turned in a more successful appearance in Auckland as they topped the Rochus brothers.

Meanwhile, top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan just barely averted the Match Tie-break, securing their win over Xavier Malisse and Kristof Vliegen in the second-set tie-break. The Belgians failed to convert any of their three break chances against the World No. 1 duo.

The fourth-seeded duo of Carly Gullickson and Ashley Harkleroad sealed their spot in the Cellular South Cup semifinals as they defeated fellow Americans Amy Frazier and Meilin Tu, 6-4, 6-4.

The Ukranian-Russian duo of Tetiana Luzhanska and Yaroslava Shvedova also picked up a quarterfinal win Thursday, jumping out to a 5-0 lead over Ekaterina Bychkova and Lina Stanciute in the second-set tie-break before wrapping up the match 6-4, 7-6(1).
