Two-time Grand Slam Champion Safin Added to Field
Memphis, TN -- Two-time Grand Slam tournament champion and former World No. 1 Marat Safin has accepted a wild card into the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships.
The 28-year-old Russian will be making his first appearance in Memphis and only his second tournament showing of the season. He has not played due to a knee injury since losing in the second round to Marcos Baghdatis in five sets at the Australian Open last month.
Safin, who captured the US Open in 2000 and the Australian Open in 2005, is currently No. 64 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings. He owns 15 career singles titles, the last coming at the Australian Open three years ago.
