On the heels of winning the China Open, No. 6 ranked player in the world, FERNANDO GONZALEZ, announces that he will play in the 2008 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and the Cellular South Cup held February 22 – March 2 at The Racquet Club of Memphis. This will mark the first appearance by Gonzalez at this stellar event where past champions include Tommy Haas, Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras and many more.

Gonzalez defeated Ivan Ljubicic (ranked No. 12) and Tommy Robredo (ranked No. 9) in route to winning his 8th ATP title. The win at the China Open also puts him in serious contention for the circuit-ending Tennis Masters Cup to be held November 12-20 in Shanghai, China where the top 8 singles and doubles players in the world vie for approximately in prize money.

The China Open is Gonzalez’s 3rd ATP final in 2007. He played world No. 1 Roger Federer in the finals of the Australian Open and No. 2 ranked Rafael Nadal in the ATP Tennis Masters Cup in Rome before taking the trophy at the China Open.
